Mobile home vs tent: which to choose?
Europe's holiday parks have evolved well beyond the classic family tent. Today, most campings offer three broad accommodation tiers: bring-your-own pitch, ready-made glamping, and fully fitted mobile homes. Each works best for a different kind of trip.
Pitched tent
The cheapest option and the most authentic experience. Best for short stays, couples, solo travellers and confident family campers. Downsides: weather risk, shared bathrooms and a tiring setup if you arrive late.
Glamping (safari tents, pods, lodges)
Pre-pitched canvas with real beds, often a small kitchen and sometimes a private bathroom. A great middle ground: keeps the outdoor feeling without the setup pain. Slightly less weather-proof than a mobile home.
Mobile home
A fully fitted cottage on wheels: bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, terrace, sometimes air-conditioning. The default choice for families and longer stays. Pricier, but per-person cost drops fast when you fill the second and third bedroom.
