Camping with a baby or toddler
Camping with a baby sounds intimidating but is genuinely easier than a hotel in many ways: outdoor space, fresh air, a relaxed routine and other parents around. The key is picking the right accommodation and arriving with a tight packing list.
Skip the tent โ choose a mobile home or glamping pod
A mobile home gives you a separate dark bedroom for naps, a fridge for bottles and a sealed bathroom for night-time wake-ups. Most parks also rent cots, baby baths and high chairs โ request them at booking, not on arrival.
Look for a baby club and shaded pool
A handful of holiday parks run a baby club from age 1, with very limited spots. Even without one, a shaded splash pool, a fenced playground for under-3s and a flat, traffic-free network of paths make a huge difference.
Packing essentials
Beyond the obvious: a portable blackout blind, a baby monitor that works at 30 metres, a hooded UV swimsuit, a cool bag for snacks, mosquito plug-in and bite cream, and a foldable stroller you don't mind getting sandy.
